Parsing metadata

When you add new videos, this process starts automatically. You can also start this process manually for the added videos from the video card context menu.

Here’s how the process works:

The full path to the video file is taken and all characters except numbers and letters are removed from it. The resulting string is converted to lowercase to make the search case-insensitive.

Then the string is searched for a match with the name of each meta card or synonym (if the search by synonyms option is checked). If the name or synonym is on the line, then the meta card name is added to the video card.

For example, the path to the video file is “D:\media\pexels_-=+*?Nature_1080p.mp4”. After deleting all unnecessary characters, you get the string “dmediapexelsnature1080pmp4”. And let’s say the name of the meta card is “Nature”, then this name will be found in the string. And let’s say the name of the meta card is “Nature”, then this name will be found in the string.

Only complex meta is involved in parsing data. You can configure the parsing option in the settings on the “Meta” tab by selecting the desired meta for editing.
